Water sports, such as surfing, kite surfing, and windsurfing grow in popularity every year, and the supporting facilities develop very fast.
Essaouira, famous for its beautiful beaches, is also a perfect place for kite surfing and windsurfing. The main windsurfing spots – the bay of Essaouira, Sidi Kaouki, and Cap Sim – are suitable for all levels and abilities. The winds are favorable, but occasional powerful sea swells may make it a little more difficult. The place called Moulay Bouzerktoun is suitable only for advanced windsurfers, as wind speed can reach up to 30 miles per hour.
Several Essaouira companies offer surfing packages and equipment rental for surfers. Some even offer windsurfing courses for beginners, as well as kite surfing and regular surfing courses. Changing and shower facilities are available too.
