Marrakech lies on the coastal plains right in front of the desert. It looks much like an oasis and has attracted visitors for centuries. It is best to travel to Marrakech in spring or in autumn, because summer temperatures may reach as high as 104°F (or 40°C).
However it depends on where in Marrakech you are planning to spend your time. Marrakech is a capital of a large district called Marrakech-Tensift-El Haouz. This area covers about 12,000 square miles (or 32,000 sq km) from foothills of High Atlas Mountains to the beaches of Essaouira.
If you want to explore the mountains around Marrakech it is better to go in the summer, as the temperature stays cool there throughout the year, and might be uncomfortably cold in winter. Essaouira known for its beautiful beaches and water sports is very windy and the weather there is good until late in the summer. However you might find it too cold in winter.
