When trying to decide what to take to Morocco it is important to keep in mind the nature of your stay. If you are going to spend time in the coastal areas or in higher altitudes, you absolutely need to take a sweater or a sweatshirt to protect yourself from cold in the evenings.
Even if your trip is scheduled for winter months, it is still important to have a good sunscreen and a hat. Do not underestimate African sun, especially if you are going to be in High Atlas regions.
Travelers, especially women, need to keep in mind that they will be treated by the locals more respectfully if they wear appropriate clothing. Shorts, miniskirts, and clothes that reveal shoulders should be avoided.
If you are using any prescription medicines, you definitely should take enough for the length of your stay. It is better to pack them in your hand luggage. Ask your doctor to write you a note explaining what these medicines are just in case you will be asked at the airport.
If you are planning a real Moroccan adventure, a type of adventure that includes trips to isolated regions in desert or in mountains, take a first-aid kit and water purification tablets. Hiking gear can be bought in the major cities, but it is always better to bring your old worn-in boots for minimizing the risk of ruining your trip.
Finally make photocopies of your passport, visa, insurance, and any other documents and carry them separately in case you will lose the originals.
